What do YOU have TO DO?

A monumentous occasion
has to be proclaimed.

I crossed off everything on my

OK,
I have four more lists I'm working on,
but this one is done.

It's destined for the recycle bin,
but I had to let it sit on my desk for another day
to enjoy every moment of that satisfaction.

There's nothing like the feeling
of boldly drawing my pen mark
through that very last item.

There was no fanfare in the house,
the kids didn't cheer me on,
my husband didn't offer to frame the list.
Self-satisfaction was enough reward.

As I thought about that feeling,
I wondered what the Bible had listed for me
to do.

1 Thessalonians 4:11
And that ye study to be quiet,
and to do your own business,
and to work with your own hands,

Hebrews 10:9
Then said he I come to do thy will, O God.

Hebrews 13:16
But to do good and to communicate forget not:
for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

James 4:17
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good,
and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

How can we manage to do our own business,
do His will and do good?

Only because the Lord Jesus has  to do list, too.

Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able
to do
exceeding
 abundantly
above all
that we ask or think,
 according to the power
that worketh in us,

We need His help
for everything on our
to do lists,
the ones we write,
and the Holy One He wrote.

Then, when we stand before Him,
and give an account
for our service on earth,
He will notice those things we've accomplished
through Him that is able...

...and we will hear,
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
His satisfaction will be reward enough.

So, I just wanna' make sure,
I get a lot of things,
crossed off on
His to do list.

  1. Great post! Thanks!
What am I doing that truly matters? His work or my own selfish ambitions?
