My Husband's Addiction...

My husband has a serious addiction.

In fact, two of his brothers have the same addiction.

They unashamedly blame their mother.

Apparently, she was the one who started them,
and now they can't stop.

They have to have their addiction every day,
and they get the heebie-jeebies if they don't get it.

Yes, all three men are Christians,
but all three suffer the same addiction.

Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion

Only the white bottle.

It freaked all three of them out a few years back when the
company decided to change their formula.

The lotion didn't feel the same,
it didn't smell the same,
but they all had to adjust.

My husband is convinced this is why he has only a few wrinkles,
he's put it on his face every day since junior high.

When this bottle ran out,
it still felt like there was a lot left in the bottom.

No wonder,
the straw is a tad too short to slurp up all it's wrinkle-repelling goodness.

I secretly wondered if this was a conspiracy to get us
to throw away a lot of lotion,
then spend more money on another bottle,
that we would partially use,
and throw the rest away.

They weren't gunna get the best of me!

When I had two bottles with lotion left in them.
I had to do surgery.

I cut the bottles apart,
used my spatula,
and tight-wadded my way to get every drop from the bottles.

It nearly filled up an 8 ounce bottle that previously held hand sanitizer.

I was SO pleased with myself.
My hubby used this bottle for
TWO MONTHS!

Woot Woot!
I love saving money.

Those bottles really weren't empty,
they still had a lot of use left in them.

Sometimes, I feel like that as a Christian -
e m p t y.
I feel like my usefulness is over,
there is nothing left in me
to give,
to use,
to share,
to bless.

But, that's just a conspiracy theory,
and I can't buy into it.

I am full of goodness.
I am full of light.
I am full of joy.
I am full of assurance of hope.
I am full of assurance of faith.

I am always full,
because of the glorious Lord Jesus Christ
and the powerful indwelling Holy Spirit.

As  Christians,
the straw
a l w a y s
reaches to the fullness in the bottom.

We only
t h i n k
we're empty.

  4. You are like the best at spiritual analogies and I love them. Always think, yea, why didn't I think of that analogy!?!

Reminds me of the old Keith Green song...

    My eyes are dry
    My faith is old
    My heart is hard
    My prayers are cold
And I know how I ought to be
Alive to You and dead to me

    But what can be done
For an old heart like mine
    Soften it up
    With oil and wine
The oil is You, Your Spirit of love
    Please wash me anew
With the wine of Your Blood.

and also of Romans 12:2..'be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
