Monday means I am facing another week of homeschooling, softball, baseball, laundry, housework, yard work and three meals a day. I am usually starting out with an empty fridge and a bit of a messy house from the weekend. I've reminded myself to say "I get to" instead of "I have to" when faced with the chores of a wife and Mom, but getting rid of the bad attitude doesn't get rid of the chores.
I learned to start our Mondays on Friday, but that still doesn't completely take away the feeling of Monday slamming into me when I'm not ready mentally and emotionally.
When I really dig deeper than the chores and the attitude of Mondays, I have to admit that my dread comes from the habit of viewing the new week as another whole week to face my trials. For some reason, I have this weird idea that by facing Monday, I'm facing seven whole days at a time.
But,
one whole week,
seven whole days,
of the trials of life,
is just too much to face at a time.
I can't.
I don't have the strength or the faith.
So, I'm reminding myself that Monday is just one day. It's not a week, it's one day. I can face one day. I can handle 24 hours, especially when I sleep through about 8 of them. I'm not facing a whole week of chores, attitudes and trials at once, I only have to face

Lately I find myself viewing Monday differently. It kind of seems like a "fresh start" where I can get back into my regular weekly routine, and maybe get some things accomplished that need doing.
ReplyDeleteAs you said, it also brings the regular weekly stresses and commitments, but along with it comes a hope and prayer of maybe getting around to some things that need doing!
BTW, I have tried so many times to upload different videos from youtube and have never had any success. Hopefully it will work for you because I've given up, lol!

One day at a time feels right. Monday is an opportunity to once again give it all to Him and wait with expectancy to see what it is He is going to surprise us with. Sometimes I need to confess a little lack of luster in crawling out of bed on Mondays...weekends and all there EXTRA busyness can really suck the wind out of you.

I can understand your feelings of Monday - a new workload, back to the breakneck schedule etc. I have also tried training myself that Monday offers another chance to do better! But I love the one day at a time, with God's grace guiding outlook. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love the "I get to..." motto and will start using it b/c I too belong to the dislike monday club. I actually grabbed a couple of groceries over the weekend which made today a lot better :)
ReplyDeleteI had sick kids on Thursday and Friday....so that means, I did not do school, clean my bathrooms or kitchen....ahh So I am trying to have a supper busy day so I can get back to normal tomorrow. Swim lessons are also never a good way to start Monday....fyi for myself.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Mindy! Only one hour left ;o)
ReplyDeleteMonday is the day the Lord has made...let us rejoice in it :o)
