Last night I walked into the hotel where
we have been living for the past week.
I was dressed up after attending a
My high heels made a satisfying, important sounding
echo trail as I walked past the uniformed clerks
and the business people in the restaurant/lounge.
Feeling like an actress in a movie,
I pushed the elevator button to the second floor.
I walked the last stretch to my room
and thought how easy it could be to get used to
living in a hotel.
Someone makes my bed every morning.
I throw my towels in a pile on the floor,
and clean ones appear on the towel bar.
Dirty mugs and glasses
are replaced with clean ones in plastic wrappers.
All my personal items are daily replaced,
so I never run out.
Wait!
Is this what my kids feel like every day?
This has to be the best reason to live in a hotel.
The floor in my house is done,
we're leaving the fairy tale hotel world,
and going back into my real world.
The world where
I pick up towels off the floor,
wash them,
and put them back into the bathrooms.
The world where I forage for dishes in bedrooms,
the family room, under the couches and beds,
wash them and put them away.
The world where I restock supplies for three bathrooms.
The world where I plunge my own toilet.
The world that I love,
because I am washing towels and dishes
and buying supplies
for the family that I love.
1 Corinthians 10:31
"...whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God."
Today I am getting back to those
whatevers
in my real world.
