When it Rains, it Pours

The other day, I blogged on about my broken heart.

Today, I'm reminded -

When it Rains, it Pours.

I was gathered at the kitchen table with my two youngest children,
praying at the exact time prayer was needed
 for our initial, heart-breaking trial.

The phone rang.
Another trial was born.

A chorus we sing at Bible Camp reverbrated through my soul-

"When troubles and sorrows multiply,
I won't ask the reason why,
Strength is mine only heaven can afford.

In the arms of sweet deliverance,
gunna' lay my heavy burden down,
and with my Lord I'll abide...
When at last my travelin’ days are done,
In the land somewhere beyond the sun,
In the arms of sweet deliverance,
In the arms of sweet deliverance I shall rest by and by."

We are too tired to weep,
too busy praying to sleep.

We are minute by minute depending on the Lord for strength and deliverance.

The best part of the rains?

They're followed by rainbows.

We're living for the promise of the rainbow,
upheld by the victorious right hand of our loving Lord
and strengthened by the prayers of His beautiful people.

The Lord gave both my husband and I the same verse this morning
when we awoke feeling the burden is too great to bear.

Matthew 11:30
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

So, we're learning to lay that burden down,
but still waiting, praying and pleading for
Sweet Deliverance.

  1. whispering a lil prayer for you, right now

  2. Totally NEEDED to read this right now! Thanks for sharing!!

  3. MM - I don't know what your trial is, but I have tears in my eyes from reading the heartbreak in your post. I will lift you up in prayer, you can count on it.
Father in Heaven, creator of family, and great physician, we lift our friend Mindy to you. You alone know the depths of pain her family is enduring right now. You alone have power over this hurt. I thank you, Lord, for your promise to carry our burdens. Please lift this from their shoulders. Allow healing, rejoicing, and peace to fill their souls.

  4. I keep thinking of the line (of a song)

"just, because it's raining - dosen't mean the sun's not there...".

Continueing to pray for you and yours.

  5. God had a cousin send the words to the hymn How Firm a Foundation to me, today. They were such an encouragement to my heart so I'll pass on a couple of them to you.

"When through the deep waters I call thee to go, the rivers of sorrow shall not overflow. For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless. And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress."

When through fiery trials thy pahtway shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply. The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

"The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose, I will not, I will not, desert to his foes; That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I'll never, no, never, no never forsake!'

    Praying still! Love you!

  6. Dear Mindy
I don't usually wake in the night, but I did last night and was praying for you then. And am still doing so whenever the Lord reminds me during the day - so while it is nighttime at your home, it is daytime here in NZ, and I can pray while you are sleeping.

  7. Praying that you will be seeing the rainbows soon!

I've been reading/learning in Revelation about overcomers. Go look at those promises to the overcomers and be encouraged.

  8. Thinking of you and praying for you as I drove home (encouraged from the Youth Conference) today, Momma Mindy!!

    Listened to ..
The Anchor Holds on drive home.

    I have journeyed
    Through the long, dark night
    Out on the open sea
    By faith alone
    Sight unknown
And yet His eyes were watching me

    The anchor holds
    Though the ship is battered
    The anchor holds
    Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees
As I faced the raging seas
    The anchor holds
    In spite of the storm

    Ive had visions
    Ive had dreams
Ive even held them in my hand
    But I never knew
    They would slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand

    I have been young
    But I am older now
    And there has been beauty
    That these eyes have seen
But it was in the night
Through the storms of my life
    Oh, thats where God proved
    His love to me

Encouraged by this verse Scott DeGroff spoke and hope you are too!

I will never leave you or forsake you...

= I am your strong support and will never walk away from you!

  9. Mindy,

I had no idea you were going through such a trial. I am so sorry. I hope when things calm down that you will be able to give us a few more details. Sorry it is so hard. Praying.

  10. Jim and I are praying for all of you. We can sense the agony in your souls and are bearing it with you. We love you and are so thankful for our bond n the Lord Jesus.
