I think we will begin that one on our next trip. First I will write it down so that I remember to do it... ah, my "remembering new and good ideas" brain is my own worst parenting enemy!!! Mia is an incredible beggar in the store so this will be wonderful. (Something I love about shopping at Aldi - less change and almost all the snacks she wants are in isle #1 - which we walk quickly past!)~ Tandis ~https://www.blogger.com/profile/13441778335750280660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875880171885324828.post-46090693308031357162010-08-13T06:28:32.078-07:002010-08-13T06:28:32.078-07:00My parents had the "Do not ask in front of&qu...My parents had the "Do not ask in front of" rule, and your post reminded me of that. My kids are still a tad young for this to be an issue, but I need to remember it for the future. Mostly, I need to remember consistancy - in rules and in follow-up discipline.Danahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04465447686967934406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875880171885324828.post-52499646171724810932010-08-13T03:29:50.942-07:002010-08-13T03:29:50.942-07:00Enjoying these posts in a thought provoking way.
T...Enjoying these posts in a thought provoking way.<br />That last rule about not asking in front of the friends is one we have and I am glad of it. Just today I witnessed my cousin being put in a tricky situation because this very thing happened. I knew from our private conversation that she was reluctant to encourage this particular boy in social settings. But her son put her on the spot in front of him. I made a quiet exit with my boys. They didn't say anything, thankfully, but told me on the way home they would have liked to be included in the suggested activity. I was so glad they knew not to butt into the conversation else I too would have been in the same bad situation. Like you, they know that I will say no if they try to put me on the spot but I guess when you are a kid it can be hard to accept being on the outer, too. sorry for the ramble, it has actually been on my mind all evening :-)Rubyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09705309602853231946noreply@blogger.com
